Choosing the Right Bike for You

There is a misconception that picking the right bike is easy. Many people think they simply find the bike that looks good and feels comfortable. They're not exactly right about that, though, because there are more things that need to be considered when choosing the perfect cycling bicycle. Cycling is very popular at the moment, be it for sports, fun, transportation etc. With all these uses there are many different bikes to go with each. Some people are choosing to cycle as a means of transportation on a regular basis. There are also plenty of families that cycle as a hobby. If you want to know those important things to look out for when selecting a bike, read the following.

One thing you can consider when choosing a bike is whether or not your feet can rest flat on the floor while you are sitting so you can stop yourself. There are those who say that this isn't the best way, though. These people explain that the best way to pick a bike is to ensure there is a few inches between the ground and your feet, and you will be provided with a much more comfortable ride. You will likely find that the seat will rest too near the crossbar, if, when you sit on the seat, your knees are bent with your feet flat on the ground, which is an indication that the seat needs to be raised. Your knees will cause interference as you are pedaling, because they will come up higher than they should, which is a result of your knees being bent when you are at rest with your feet down. The type of handlebars you choose is also important. There are plenty types of handlebars to choose from. Traditional handlebars that just go straight out are good for maneuvering over difficult terrain. These handlebars will also distribute your weight over a big area. For racing however you will want special handlebars, ones which are thinner and are positioned in such a way you can lean over them as you cycle. This is to lower wind resistance and will allow you to go faster. For those people who rarely use their bikes you can get away with just selecting comfortable handlebars that can be stored away easily.

Where you set the angle of your seat is also something to consider. There are a variety of options for tilting the bicycle seat. Most people find a seat that is flat to be a bit too uncomfortable, so they tilt it the way that feels the best. Continue to adjust your seat until it feels the best for read you. You could leave it as it is, but the narrow part of the seat might not allow you to rest comfortably in a forward leaning position.

As you can see, there are several things you should keep in mind when you decide on a bicycle that's right for you. It can be a bit tedious and frustrating to try and figure out what all you need when you are buying a bicycle. Take your time and do some research and you’ll find the right bike before you know it.
